Annual Young Women’s Conference
At Turtle Dove, we are committed to bridging the gap for young women, particularly those aged 14 to 24. Therefore, on Monday 25th November 2024, Turtle Dove Cambridge hosted the first Young Women’s Conference: Getting Young Women into the workplace and Business. This event brought together young women exploring career opportunities alongside female business leaders and professionals from various industries across the city.
The choice of date, 25th of November is globally significant as it is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
To mark it, Turtle Dove provided a positive platform to confront this and other significant barriers such as early pregnancy, domestic violence, homelessness or lack of experience and confidence. All are factors which contribute to unemployment and disengagement from education and training for young women.
These young women represent an untapped workforce, full of resilience and potential. We believe you can play a crucial role in creating pathways to success.
What Happened?:
• Professional Representation and Engagement: We invited local businesses to host careers stalls to represent their business or workplace and share their personal experiences with young women.
• Keynote Speakers and Interactive discussions: The audience heard inspiring stories from women who have overcome adversity and achieved success. There were incredible and engaging discussions on Gender Equality, Mental Health, Confidence, and more.
• Networking Opportunities: Connections were made with fellow business leaders, young women, and community members.
• Impact: Businesses discovered how they can help close workforce gaps by supporting young women on their path to employment.
